Bridging the Gaps in the Training of Mental Health Specialists

A meeting was held in Odessa Military Administration to discuss the issue of bridging the gaps in the training of mental health specialists.

At the invitation of Anna Velychko, regional coordinator of the All-Ukrainian Program “HOW ARE YOU?” of the OER, the event was attended by scientific and pedagogical workers of higher educational institutions that train specialists in psychology — ONMedU, ONU named after Mechnikov, Ushinsky Pedagogical Institute, ONUA, employees of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy Yevhen Oprya and Tetyana Chernova were present.

The meeting was opened by Deputy Head of the Military Administration Dmitry Radulov, who emphasized that today it is necessary to connect representatives of higher educational institutions that train future specialists with services and platforms for further employment and the provision of psychosocial services.

The meeting discussed the gaps between the portrait of a future specialist, who is currently being trained in higher education institutions and specialists who are already working in service delivery structures, identifying the suitability of specialists for real challenges in the field of mental health.

During the meeting, the experience of providing psychological assistance and rehabilitation of such institutions as the Center for Mental Health “Our City” (Shevchenko Avenue, 6/5), 10 State Clinical Hospital, “Veteran Hub” (Kosovskaya 2B), the Regional Scientific Library named after Hrushevsky and the Equestrian Club (Mikhnovsky, 14) was introduced.
