A meeting of the Academic Council has been held

On February 8, 2021, a regular meeting of the Academic Council of Odessa National Medical University took place. The meeting was held remotely on the Microsoft Teams platform and in several locations in compliance with anti-epidemic rules.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary of the Academic Council, Professor O.L. Appelhans, congratulated on the election Professor V.M. Zaporozhan on the election as the Rector of ONMedU and Professors M.A. Kashtalyan, O.O. Yakimenko and V.V. Babienko on their anniversaries.

The chairman of the commission for consideration of the candidacy of the Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Professor F.I. Kostev for the title of “Honorary Doctor of Odessa National Medical University”, Professor VM Sokolov, made a report on the results of the work of the commission. The proposal of the commission was approved unanimously by the Academic Council.

Vice-rector for scientific and pedagogical work, Professor V.G. Marichereda acquainted the members of the Academic Council with the main provisions of the Concept of Strategic Development of Odessa National Medical University for the period up to 2025. The Academic Council supported the proposed version of the document. All employees can get acquainted with the Concept on the university website.

The Academic Council also approved a limit for scholarship holders who may be awarded an academic scholarship based on the results of semester control. This issue was reported by the head of the planning and economic department N.Z. Kadebska.

During the meeting, the reviewers of the dissertations and the Chairmen of the one-time specialized councils were approved to defend candidates’ dissertations.

The issue of establishing a legal department at ONMedU and approving the Regulations for the legal department was suggested by the head of the department of personnel and military mobilization work, PhD in Law S.B. Melnik. After discussion, the Academic Council approved these proposals.

Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work, Associate Professor K.O. Talalaiev reported on the establishment of the Internal Audit Commission at ONMedU and its implementation in the period from February 9 to March 9, 2021. The Academic Council unanimously approved this issue.

According to the agenda, the Academic Secretary, Professor O.L. Appelhans reported on the awarding of academic titles to employees of university departments.

The majority of votes for academic titles supported the candidacies of the following employees:

– Professor at the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery – PhD Medicine T.M. Muratova;

– Professor of the Department Surgery № 3 – PhD Medicine O. F. Dzigal;

– Associate Professor of the Department Surgery № 1 with postgraduate training – PhD Medicine R.P. Nikitenko;

– Associate Professor of the Department Surgery № 2 – PhD Medicine V.G. Shevchenko.

At the end of the meeting, the Chairman of the Academic Council, Rector of ONMedU V.M. Zaporozhan presented flowers to the jubilees, a medal, a mantle and a certificate of “Honorary Professor of ONMedU” to the Head of the Department of Urology and Nephrology, Honorary Worker of Science and Technics of Ukraine, Professor F.I. Kostev. The words of gratitude of the esteemed professor were sincere and exciting: “I would like to address the members of the Academic Council and the entire staff of the university with great gratitude for the trust and distinction. I am grateful to all the team that has surrounded me for many years and helps every day. I bow low to all my teachers, colleagues and students. ”
