A large meeting of academic staff from Odessa National Medical University and Queen Mary University of London took place

 

A large-scale meeting of academic staff from Odessa National Medical University and Queen Mary University of London took place on May 6, dedicated to summing up the results of cooperation between the two universities on the eve of the three-year anniversary of the partnership.

The session was opened by Professor Sir Mark Caulfield, QMUL Vice-Chancellor for Health, who welcomed the participants and introduced key figures, including Richard Grose, Dean of Global Affairs, Lee Wildman, Director of International Affairs, Tetyana Lunova, who has been supporting our students under the Twinning program since 2022, and others. St. Barts Hospital staff noted the positive experience of ONMedU students during their internship. Sir Caulfield emphasized the importance of supporting medical students through clinical training, detailing their rotations in traumatology, orthopedics and cardiology. Dr. Krishnaraj Rathod described the students’ practical experience at the St. Bart’s Heart Center, where they participated in patient consultations and observed surgeries. Dr. Martina Illiodromiti also made a keynote speech, noting the students’ positive contribution to the provision of women’s health services.

The program of the event was very rich and informative. Of particular interest were the presentations of colleagues from QMUL, who shared their valuable experience and knowledge, in particular in the areas of student assessment, digital learning and the use of artificial intelligence in education – topics that are extremely relevant for modern medical education.

The participants of the event had the opportunity to discuss the achievements of cooperation between British and Ukrainian universities, as well as outline the prospects for further development of joint initiatives. The meeting once again confirmed the importance of international partnership for the development of education and science, support from British colleagues, and also became a powerful incentive for the implementation of innovative approaches in the educational process.
