Since the beginning of November 2024, Odessa National Medical University has been holding career guidance events for graduates of schools, lyceums and medical colleges not only in Odesa, but also in the entire southern region of Ukraine. Thus, on February 17, higher education seekers and teachers of the institution met with students of the school of the village of Brytivka and lyceum students of the city of Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi.

The conversation began with a presentation of the university. Professor Natella Kordzaya gave interesting facts from the 125-year history of the university. Higher education seekers Sofia Matiushenko and Ilya Rusu spoke about the advantages and features of studying at the medical faculty, and Ayisha Mamedova shared her experience and impressions of studying at the dentistry faculty. Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Khrystyna Holubchyk announced new specialties “Emergency Medicine”, “Obstetrics”, “Cosmetology” and “Psychology” of the educational and qualification level “bachelor”.

Tutors from the Department of Simulation Medical Technologies Milana Mynya, Yulia Khrapova and assistant of this department Svitlana Trishchenko conducted two trainings: “Basic Life Support on a Modern Simulator “Bryden Mannequin” and “Stopping Bleeding with a Tourniquet”. High school students participated in these trainings with great interest. Everyone tried to master the skills of emergency first aid. Even the air alarm that sounded during the lesson did not stop them, so the training continued in a shelter.

The meetings were held in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The students were happy to communicate with representatives of one of the oldest medical universities in the country, asked questions that showed their genuine interest in medicine, and received a lot of useful information about choosing a future profession.

According to the organizers of the career guidance events, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical Work Eduard Buryachkovsky and Head of the Department for Ensuring Clinical Competencies Alla Volianska, such meetings always leave an unforgettable impression on future applicants and to some extent influence the subsequent choice of profession.

The representatives of our university were pleased to meet the extraordinary interest of young men and women. Looking at their intelligent eyes and serious perception of new information, one could understand that many of them will become students of ONMedU in just a few months.

We are really waiting for you, young people! There are actually a lot of high school students who are already thinking about choosing a profession and have a desire to make their dream come true. Therefore, representatives of ONMedU plan to organize similar meetings in other cities of the South of the country in the future.
