Valerii Zaporozhan greeted the participants of the international conference dedicated to memory of the outstanding professor Oleksandr Zelinskii

On April 16, a two-day international online conference “Modern directions of perinatal and reproductive medicine: from the theory of innovative research to practice”, initiated by Odessa branch of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine, headed by Professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of ONMedU Gulsym Manasova. Academician Valerii Zaporozhan, Rector of Odessa National Medical University, greeted the conference participants.

The conference is dedicated to the memory of the leading obstetrician-gynecologist of Ukraine and Europe, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, a worthy representative of Odessa School of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Professor Oleksandr Oleksiyovych Zelinskii. Valerii Zaporozhan noted the great contribution of Professor Zelinskii in the development of original approaches and methods of treatment of obstetric and gynecological pathologies. He created scientific schools of gynecologists, endocrinologists, perinatologists, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, menopause, reconstructive and plastic surgery, reproductive medicine.

“He is an outstanding scientist and educator, whose importance for medical science and the health care system cannot be overestimated. Professor Zelinskii was among the initiators of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine, which in 1996 became one of the first professional medical communities in Ukraine. He took an active part in the work of the All-Ukrainian Medical Society, which takes care of solving numerous problems of protection and strengthening of the health of the nation, domestic medical science, protection of the medical community,”said Valerii Zaporozhan.

Professor Oleksandr Oleksiyovych Zelinskii was not only an outstanding scientist and a dedicated physician, but also a decent man and a true patriot of his country. “His eternal desire to help people, to teach and pass on knowledge, to take care of the young generation of scientists and doctors is fascinating. For us, his colleagues and students, Oleksandr Oleksiyovych was and is a Man with a capital letter,” the rector of ONMedU added.

The conference addresses topical issues of reproductive and general health of the nation, prevention of maternal, perinatal morbidity and mortality. The program includes 47 reports, 3 master classes, presentation and competition program of young scientists.

The conference is attended by obstetricians, gynecologists, surgeons, hematologists, immunologists, cardiac surgeons, urologists from Moldova, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan. Ukraine is represented by an expert in obstetrics and gynecology of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, corresponding member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Vyacheslav Kaminskii, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of ONMedU, Professor Igor Gladchuk, Vice President of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine. Of Ukraine, Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Lviv National Medical University named after D. Halytsky, Honored Doctor of Ukraine, Professor Leonid Markin, Chairman of the Presidium of Odessa branch of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine Gulsym Manasova and others.
