This competition allows higher education institutions and business partners across Europe to collaborate on innovative projects, turning universities into centers of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The 2024 call for applications from the EIT HEI Initiative focuses on improving the quality and competitiveness of higher education in Europe. It aims to improve research in higher education institutions and technology transfer, as well as support business creation by strengthening cooperation between universities and business partners across Europe.
The purpose of this competition is to finance up to 42 projects, each of which is developed for 25 months and has a total budget of 1.34 million euros. Funding will be distributed in two stages:
Stage 1 (April 1 to December 31, 2025): up to €540,000
Stage 2 (from January 1, 2026 to April 30, 2027): up to €800,000*
*Funding of the second stage depends on the successful implementation of the first stage activities and the approval of the EIT grant agreement contract for 2026-2027.
The competition involves a two-level approach, where applicants must choose one of the following areas:
Direction A: Development of innovative and entrepreneurial abilities in institutions of higher education (universities).
Direction B: Developing innovative and entrepreneurial capabilities in universities to strengthen Deep Tech.
