The first steps in science!

The students of the department of propaedeutics of pediatrics Maria Velikova, Alina Overchuk and Elizaveta Morgunova (4th year 2nd MF) presented the results of the educational project of ONMedU and the department at student scientific conferences with international participation in Chernivtsi, Lutsk and Odesa.

On April 2–5, 2024, Maria Velikova took part in the 11th International Medical and Pharmaceutical Congress of Students and Young Scientists VIMKO 2024, which was held at the Bukovyna State University (Chernivtsi). She presented the report “Experience of teaching teenagers emergency aid skills for massive bleeding using modern techniques” in the “Medicine – Online” section. The work aroused considerable interest and approval among the members of the presidium and earned a diploma of the III degree.

Elizaveta Morgunova gave a speech “Methods of massive bleeding arrest in children: analysis of world experience” at the scientific and practical conference with international participation “Modern theoretical and practical aspects of clinical medicine” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Professor Y. L. Kurak, which took place on April 25 at Odesa National Medical University. A thorough systematic review of evidence-based sources was conducted, and recommendations were developed for choosing optimal methods of massive bleeding arrest in children. The work was awarded with a 1st degree diploma.

Alina Overchuk took part in the XVIII International scientific practical conference of students, postgraduates and young scientists “Young science in Volyn: priorities and research prospects” (Volyn National University named after Lesya Ukrainka), which was held on May 14-15, 2024 in Lutsk. The report “Experience of training education specialists in methods of  bleeding arrest in children” was presented at the “Medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy and occupational therapy” section. The work was also highly appreciated for the topicality of the topic, the research methodology, the practical part and the correct statistical processing of the obtained data. As a result, during an open vote among members of the presidium and participants of the conference, Alina was awarded a diploma for the best report (1st place).

The scientific leader of this project is Tetyana Khimenko, associate professor of the Department of Pediatrics Propedeutics.
