Summing up the conference “MODERN ASPECTS OF COMPLEX REHABILITATION. CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS – 2024”

On October 10 and 11, the scientific and practical conference “MODERN ASPECTS OF COMPLEX REHABILITATION. CHALLENGES AND PROSPECTS – 2024” took place.

The purpose of the conference was to discuss issues related to the organization of rehabilitation in the south of Ukraine. The main focus is on providing rehabilitation assistance to victims of military aggression, organization of barrier-free space and inclusion, application of adaptive physical culture and sports, psychological rehabilitation and employment of persons with disabilities.

During the forum, the main vectors of the development of rehabilitation in the region were determined, issues related to the creation and equipment of rehabilitation departments in medical institutions were considered. The conference also focused on the training of personnel in the field of rehabilitation based on a multidisciplinary approach.

The conference was prepared and conducted by a powerful team of specialists of ONMedU and the Rehabilitation Management Association.

During the 2 days of work, more than 300 specialists who were present in the Grand Hall of Gagarinn Hotel became participants and listeners of the conference.

Hundreds of interested viewers from Kyiv, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Chernivtsi, Poltava, Chernihiv, Ternopil, Lviv, Odesa, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Warsaw were connected during 15 hours of professional online broadcasting.

About 50 expert reports, analysis of clinical cases, master class on canister therapy, passionate discussions and professional communication did not leave anyone indifferent.

This year, our traditional scientific and practical conference had a new format.

Taking into account the important social aspect of the rehabilitation industry in the conditions of a full-scale war and the increased need for rehabilitation services, it was decided to start the first day of the conference with the meeting of the Round Table “PROBLEM ISSUES OF THE ORGANIZATION OF REHABILITATION IN SOUTHERN UKRAINE”.

During this meeting, the director of the Department of Health of  Odesa City Council Levon Nikohosyan, vice-rector of ONMedU Konstiantin Talalaiev, director of City Clinical Hospital No. 10 Denys Sebov, general director of the Odesa Regional Medical-Physical Dispensary Ihor Pasternak, chief orthopedist-traumatologist of the Department of Health Care of Odesa City Council, Department for Coordination of Rehabilitation Assistance, Odesa City Council Department of Health Care, expert of the Ministry of Health Serhiy Varzar, director of the Children’s Polyclinic No.6 of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, head of the patronage service of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oksana Alekseieva.

The line of reports of social importance continued on the second day by the head of the physical culture and sports department of the Department of physical culture, sports and tourism of  Odesa regional state (military) administration Valentina Kolchak, the head of  Odesa regional branch of the fund for social protection of persons with disabilities Vitaliy Koltsov, a representative of the government commissioner for the rights of individuals with a disability in Odesa Oleg Sokolov.

Scientific reports are a special pride of the conference. It is important to note the participation of 17 professors, doctors of science in the work of the event. Among them: Oleksandr Vladimirov, Olga Yushkivska, Denis Sebov, Larisa Gunina, Larisa Shakhlina, Oleksandr Plakida, Susanna Tikhonova, Vitaly Koltsov, Iryna Babova, Yevhen Oprya, Oleg Nekhanevich, Olena Gozhenko, Daria Popovych, Vasyl Klapchuk, Alla Zhidenko, Oksana Polyanska , Evgeny Mykhalyuk.

It is important that members and partners of the Rehabilitation Management Association took an active part in the work of the conference.

I would especially like to note the great work done during the preparation of the conference by the staff of the department of physical rehabilitation, sports medicine and physical education – associate professor Olena Filonenko, professor Oleksandr Plakida, senior laboratory assistant Viktoriya Radaeva, as well as the manager of our Association Kristina Marichanu.
