Shevchenko’s word!

And the heart is beating – alive…

In the period from March 4-8, 2024, at the Department of Social Sciences, headed, associate professor Olha Sikorska, with the organizational support of assistant professor Olena Uvarova, educational and creative events were held with the winners of the National Medical University in honor of the outstanding figure of Ukrainian culture, Taras Shevchenko, whose figure remains important in context of our present. T. Shevchenko combined a poet, an artist, and a public figure in himself, he was painfully worried about the fate of his people and country.

Associate professors of the department Olрa Shanina and Liliia Filiuk paid attention to interesting facts from Kobzar’s biography, revealed the multifaceted nature of his figure for Ukraine in the 19th century. Associate Professor Tetiana Podkupko conducted an interactive game-testing on the Kahut platform. The winners prepared reports and presentations about his works, known throughout the world, and hundreds of works of art.

During the week, everyone could take part in the online quiz developed by Antonina Krytska, a teacher of the department, and test their knowledge of T. Shevchenko’s biography and work. 230 test takers participated, of which all correct answers were given by test takers Anastasia Dobrovolska (1st year, Faculty of Medicine), Karina Fishkova (1st year, Faculty of Pharmacy), Diana Yaroshevska (1st year, Faculty of Dentistry), and all other participants showed a high level of knowledge .

Foreign winners joined the activities of the Department of Social Sciences. For them, professor Nataliya Arefieva and teacher Svitlana Ivleva prepared stories about T. Shevchenko’s significance for Ukraine, using his poetry as an example, the winners improved their knowledge of Ukrainian.

The Department of Social Sciences would like to thank Natalia Harinia, Director of the Scientific Library of ONMedU, for her constant cooperation. Librarian Iryna Grabarchuk joined the practical classes of associate professor Mykola Kulachynskyi and presented rare editions of the works of the Ukrainian poet to the applicants.
