ONMedU: volunteer movement

Since 2018, the staff of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy have taken over the patronage of the children’s department of Odesa Regional Medical centre for psychiatric health. Organizing holidays, sports competitions and caring for orphans have always been a priority for the department.

However, with the beginning of the full-scale invasion, this assistance acquired personal significance – the Mental Health Center provided shelter to children from the occupied territories. The volunteer movement of ONMedU doctors, created from among the members of the SSS of the department and teachers, planned an event for St. Nicholas Day in advance – they purchased New Year’s gifts, sweets, Christmas tree decorations, and games. The training “Communicative skills for communicating with children with mental disabilities” was held at the scientific and educational site of the Mental Health Center. Students of 1st–6th years, master’s students of the specialty “Psychology” joined the event. Together with the children, they decorated the Christmas tree, sang, launched soap bubbles, danced, and played games. Saint Nicholas gave all the children gifts and sweets. The holiday was over!

Christmas and New Year are ahead! The volunteer movement of ONMedU doctors invites students and teachers to join its team.
