Viktoria Borshch and Iryna Savchenko, assistants to the rector of Odessa National Medical University, took part in the International Staff Week Erasmus+, which was held from May 19 to 23, 2025 at one of the oldest higher education institutions in Europe – the University of Seville.
The event of our partners brought together about 200 participants from international departments and the academic community of universities from all over the world – from all five continents. It was especially pleasant to note the number of representatives from Ukraine, which indicates a serious desire of the Ukrainian higher education system to integrate into the European educational space and continue to implement the best practices of international partnership.
The program of the week included participation in thematic panel discussions, exchange of experience and familiarization with the effective strategies of the University of Seville in matters of internationalization, academic mobility, innovation, entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer. Opportunities for the development of joint research initiatives and the expansion of cooperation for postgraduate students and young scientists were also actively discussed.
Of particular interest was the acquaintance with the Faculty of Nursing, Physiotherapy and Podiatry, with which preliminary agreements were reached on the search for new formats of cooperation. New academic exchanges and agreements for internships by ONMedU students and teachers at the University of Seville are already being prepared. Particular attention was paid to the development of joint projects in the fields of rehabilitation and nursing, which can become a platform for interuniversity cooperation and exchange of experience between specialists from both institutions.
The successfully completed first case of academic mobility of an ONMedU postgraduate student to the University of Seville was an important step in the development of the partnership. It is planned to continue such exchanges within the framework of supporting young scientists and expanding opportunities for joint research.
The excursion to the library of the University of Seville, which carefully stores rare copies of books from the 13th to 16th centuries, was also impressive.
The members of the ONMedU delegation were captivated by the unique atmosphere of Seville, its architectural heritage and the cultural program of the event, including an acquaintance with the art of authentic flamenco, which left an unforgettable impression.
This visit was another step towards deepening international cooperation, opened new horizons for professional growth and inspired the implementation of new initiatives in the field of education and science.
