ONMedU Library: To the Day of Defenders of Ukraine

On October 1, on the day of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God, the Day of Defenders is celebrated in Ukraine.

On this occasion, a meeting of the staff of the institution with Vasyl Prokofiev, a serviceman of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, took place in the scientific library of Odesa National Medical University.

Vasyl is a very creative person. In peacetime, he worked as a researcher at Odesa Museum of Local Lore, drew pictures, played the guitar, and participated in a radio-controlled device modeling competition. He was never attracted to military service, but when the war began, he was one of the first to go to defend his Motherland. Unfortunately, Vasyl was injured recently while performing a combat mission. He is currently being treated in a military hospital.

The meeting took place in a very warm atmosphere. The library staff listened with interest to Vasyl’s story about his two-year war journey and about the comrades with whom he shared all the hardships of military service.

After the meeting, Vasyl Prokofiev visited the main building of ONMedU, where he paid his respects to all fallen defenders of Ukraine with a moment of silence at the stand for fallen medical heroes.
