The Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) is a component of the second part of the Unified State Qualification Examination, introduced in higher medical educational institutions of Ukraine as a mandatory form of certification. This form of certification of graduates was introduced in 2019 in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
The main purpose of the exam is to assess the level of professional competencies formed at clinical departments during training, the student’s ability to make informed decisions regarding the application of diagnostic or treatment methods in specific clinical cases, as well as to demonstrate practical mastery of these methods.
In the current academic year, a trial version of the OSCE has been proposed for applicants for the specialties of “Medicine” and “Dentistry” in order to improve students’ knowledge and skills based on the educational and production complex of innovative technologies of education and informatization. With the help of modern simulators, each student has the opportunity to practice several dozen practical skills. Work at the station is close to the real conditions of a doctor’s work. Working at different stations, a student can work out a clinical case as a family doctor, an emergency medicine doctor or as a hospital doctor.
The practical skills and algorithms of the teachers of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Department of Pediatrics, the Department of Surgery, Radiodiagnosis, Radiation Medicine, Therapy and Oncology, the Department of Internal Medicine No. 1 and No. 2, the Department of Infectious Diseases with a course in Dermatovenereology, the Department of Occupational Pathology and Functional Diagnostics and Phthisiopulmonology help to master the practical skills and algorithms of actions.
