Mourning in ONMedU: a great man passed away

Today, ONMedU said goodbye to a real man – Zelinskii Oleksandr Oleksiiovych.
All the work of Oleksandr Oleksiiovych, from a post-graduate student, assistant, associate professor to a professor, the head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (since 1983), is associated with Odessa State, and then – National Medical University.
In the walls of ONMedU, he was formed as a research scientist, educator, clinician of the highest level, organizer of higher medical education and science. An alumnus, follower and founder of new areas of diagnosis and treatment of Odessa School of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
Oleksandr Oleksiiovych studied the problems of perinatal medicine, gestosis of pregnancy, human reproduction, gynecological endocrinology, operative obstetrics and gynecology, pediatric and adolescent gynecology, climacteric, reconstructive and plastic surgery. He created scientific schools of gynecologists-endocrinologists, perinatology (since 1984), pediatric and adolescent gynecology (since 1989), as well as a scientific school studying human reproductive problems in the menopausal period (since 1992).
Professor Zelinskii was one of the first initiators of the establishment of perinatal centers in our country. In 1985-1986, at the clinical base of the medical institute, one of the maternity hospitals of Odessa established the first department of resuscitation and intensive care for newborns, which today is one of the regional centers for the emergence of preterm infants with an extremely low body mass.
Oleksandr Oleksiiovych represented the national school of obstetrician-gynecologists in the work of more than 40 congresses, scientific forums in 25 countries of Europe, America, Australia, and Asia. He was a member of many specialized academic councils for the defense of dissertations, editorial boards of profile magazines, the honorary chairman of international congresses.
Professor Zelinskii was an academician of the Ukrainian Academy of Technological Sciences, a member of the World Association of Obstetricians-Gynecologists, the European Association of Oncogynecologists, Endocrinologists and Gynecologists, the World Association of Embryologists and Reproductologists, the Association of Pathophysiology of Pregnancy.
He was one of the main initiators of the Association of Obstetricians-Gynecologists of Ukraine.
Professor O. Zelinskii was awarded the title of “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine”, as well as the signs “Excellence in Education of Ukraine” and “Excellence in Health Care of Ukraine”, medals, honorary titles for outstanding scientific developments and a great contribution to the practice of gynecologic patients treatment.
