Mental Health Awareness Month in Ukraine Continues

Head of the Department of Psychiatry, Narcology, Medical Psychology and Psychotherapy of ONMedU, Professor Yevhen Oprya, took part in the scientific and practical conference with international participation “Algorithms for Diagnostics, Treatment and Rehabilitation of Patients with Mental Health Disorders during War” as a speaker with a report “Psychological Foundations of Quality Communication in Working with Military Personnel”. He noted: “Traumatic experience affects physical and mental health. Sometimes it is extremely difficult to establish contact with soldiers with PTSD so as not to touch the triggers. A safe environment, respect for the individual, empathy, and communication skills are the key to successful treatment and rehabilitation of military personnel with PTSD.”

Also, as part of the conference, a poster presentation by a graduate student of the department, Moldavska Khrystyna, was presented on the topic: “Clinical profile of military personnel with post-traumatic stress disorder.”
