On January 21, 2020 the Conference of the Labour Collective of Odessa National Medical University was held. One issue was put on the agenda – approval of amendments to the Statute of ONMedU by the Academic Council.
The chairman of ONMedU Labour Collective Conference F.I. Kostiev announced to the attendees a new version of the Statute, noting that “the Statute adopted in 2016 has no time limits, but a number of state documents in the field of higher education have been adopted that require us to work on the present Statute and its addition”.
He spoke about the changes in each section of the main document, which reflects all aspects of the university life in detail.
In particular, the President of the Conference focused on the possible change of ONMedU status according to Article 30 of the Law of Ukraine 392/9 “On Amendments to Some Laws of Ukraine on Improvement of Educational Activities in Higher Education”: to become a scientific research institute. This is the highest level, which has the right to receive as a priority basic funding of scientific research in accordance with the laws of Ukraine, will have the right to make the final decision on the assignment of scientific titles, the formation of specialized scientific councils, the formation of innovative structures of different types, scientific, technological parks, business incubators, small businesses and so on. It also allows to independently assign items and amounts of the university’s own revenue.
Some members of the Conference of the Labor Collective Group introduced their amendments to the new version of the Statute, after which it was approved unanimously.
