European Congress of Rheumatology (EULAR-2024), Vienna (Austria)

The European Congress of Rheumatologists (EULAR-2024), which was held in Vienna (Austria) from June 12 to 15, 2024, has completed its work.

This annual Congress is a prestigious event that has gained a reputation as the most innovative platform for both academics and practitioners worldwide.

The EULAR-2024 Congress gathered more than 18,000 delegates from more than 130 countries. Ukraine was represented by leading rheumatologists from Odessa, Kyiv, Dnipro, Vinnytsia, etc. Odeshchyna was represented by the city freelance rheumatologist of the highest category Vasylets Viktoriya Viktorivna, as well as associate professor of the Department of Internal Medicine No. 2, rheumatologist, doctor of medicine. Leading speakers – rheumatologists from around the world presented updated recommendations for the management of inflammatory connective tissue diseases, new treatment methods and further perspectives, in particular, an innovative method of treating systemic lupus erythematosus using chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy (CAR-T) was presented. During the sessions, the experience of treating rare and difficult cases in rheumatology was exchanged, diseases simulating rheumatological conditions, in particular those simulating systemic vasculitis, were discussed. The speakers presented new biomarkers that can improve the diagnosis of some rare diseases. Numerous trainings and master classes were held. During backroom meetings with leading rheumatologists in Europe, including the president of EULAR Daniel Aletaha (Austria), they sincerely expressed their support for Ukraine, Ukrainian scientists, doctors and patients, and their willingness to cooperate in future projects.
