On October 15-17, 2022, another two-year neuroscience forum NEURONUS was held for young scientists and students at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. This forum is held under the auspices of IBRO (World Brain Research Organization) and is of great interest to scientists from all over the world dealing with the problems of the nervous system. Students from different countries of the European continent also take an active part. This year, the NEURONUS 22 forum was held face-to-face.
The program reports of the most famous scientists of universities and scientific centers of the countries of the European Union and North America on topical issues of diseases of the nervous system were heard. In the format of session meetings, young scientists had the opportunity to familiarize their colleagues with the results of their own research, to form an idea about the possibilities of further development of scientific research. Ksenia Prybolovets, a 6th-year student of the Faculty of Medicine, made a scientific report from the Odesa National Medical University.
Among the “key” speakers are our compatriots who are currently conducting research abroad in the most famous scientific centers.
By the way, Professor Oleksiy Verkhratskyi, who before starting work at the University of Manchester worked on the problems of biophysics of membranes and pathophysiology of the nervous system at the Institute of Physiology named after O. Bogomoletsa, is one of the most cited scientists in the world. His Hirsch index in the scientometric database Scopus (not to be confused with the GoogleScholar and WoS indices!) was at the time of the forum an unprecedented figure of 99(!), and, for example, his work on the biophysical properties of astroglia, which was published in the journal Lancet Neurology, has to date, about 3,000 citations. Of course, such meetings and advice from outstanding scientists — our compatriots — inspire young scientists and motivate them to do their own scientific research.
The employees of the department of biophysics, informatics and medical equipment express their gratitude to the 6th-year student Ksenia Prybolovets, all members of the scientific student circle of the department for their hard and responsible work and wish them inspiration and further success.
