Valerii Zaporozhan: “We must do everything for our university to be restored and  to become one of the leaders of medical education in Ukraine again.”

On January 16, 2020, the first meeting of the Academic Council of  Odessa National Medical University was held, where a lot of issues were discussed.

The Chairman of the Academic Council, Academician V.M. Zaporozhan noted: “The coming year will be very busy. Now there are serious changes in the legislative base of Ukraine and, as they say, the re-engineering of all management systems. We must conform with the aspirations of our country and do everything  for our university to be restored and re-ranked among the leaders of medical education in Ukraine. We will have to strain, but we have every opportunity to regain our status.”

The draft “Concepts of the educational activity of  Odessa National Medical University for 2020–2024” was approved, the main local normative document regulating the organization and carrying out of the educational process at the university in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine and higher education standards.

A structural unit “University Pharmacy” has been introduced into the structure of ONMedU, which will provide undergraduate and postgraduate training of students and improve the qualification of pharmaceutical workers by the standards of higher education.

The Academic Council, unanimously, approved the establishment, from the first of April 2020, of the preparatory department of the international faculty, as well as the scholarship limit, to which an academic scholarship will be awarded for the spring semester of  2019/2020 academic year.

The reorganization of the scientific units of Odessa National Medical University was approved and the department of scientific and technical information was created.

The plan of ONMedU anti-corruption measures for 2020 was approved.
