100 Outstanding Graduates (Oleksandr Vsevolodovych Zubarenko)

Oleksandr Vsevolodovych Zubarenko is an Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Pediatrics No. 3 with postgraduate training of Odessa National Medical University.
Oleksandr Vsevolodovych is a representative of the fourth generation of the dynasty of doctors. It was in his youth, when Oleksandr Vsevolodovych became interested in medicine, worked as a nurse at the Ambulance Service during his school years. Immediately after school he entered Odessa Medical Institute named after M. I. Pirogov.
After graduating from clinical residency and post graduatedepartment under the guidance of Academician B. Ya. Reznik (whowe talked about earlier), Oleksandr Vsevolodovych began to work as an assistant at the Department of Pediatric Diseases of the Pediatric Department, regularly consulted patients in severe conditions, traveled to the districts of the Odessa region, personally participated in dispensary of children from the Chernobyl zone in the year of the accident. In addition to the daily practical work of a pediatrician, he found time for scientific research. He was interested in Childhood Hematology. In an effort to save the lives of children from leukemia, he sought more advanced treatments. Under the guidance of Academician Boris Y. Reznik, Oleksandr Vsevolodovych successfully defended his Ph.D. thesis on the topic “Practical Hematology of Childhood”.
The doctoral dissertation was devoted to the study of the influence of liposomes in children with lung diseases.
Under the direction of academician O. V. Stefanov, a series of clinical and experimental studies was conducted on this subject, new methods of treatment, which today are actively used in practical medicine, were developed.
The scientific work of Professor O. V. Zubarenko is related to the actual problems of modern pediatrics – rehabilitation of newborns with hypoxic-ischemic lesions of the central nervous system, rehabilitation of children from the Chernobyl disaster zone, the use of enterosorbents in allergic diseases. O.V. Zubarenko was one of the first in Ukraine to lead problem research on fungal sensitization, developed a complex of rehabilitation measures for children with congenital heart disease. At present, under his guidance, scientific works are dedicated to ecologically dependent pathology, development of non-drug technologies for restorative treatment of children with bronchopulmonary and nephrological pathology.
Professor O. V. Zubarenko was awarded the honorary titles of “Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine”, “Excellence in Health Care”, awarded with a silver medal of Exhibition of Economic Achievements, M.I. Pirogov Medal, a breastplate “For Merit in Humane Activity”, an honorary badge Red Cross. He is the author of more than 500 scientific works, including 16 monographs and textbooks. Under his leadership 21 candidates and 2 doctors of medical sciences have been trained.
Now Professor Zubarenko O.V. is the head of the Department of Pediatrics No. 3 with post-graduate training and undoubtedly a prominent graduate of ONMedU.
