Lectures by leading medical experts from Australia

On April 4, 2025, a unique educational event was held at Odesa National Medical University, organized by the Charitable Foundation “Christian Medical Association of Ukraine” in cooperation with ONMedU. The event brought together students, doctors and medical professionals who had the opportunity to join the international experience thanks to lectures by two leading medical experts from Australia.

Lecture 1. Chris Hegerty – “Sepsis: diagnosis and treatment”
The first part of the event was opened by Dr. Chris Hegerty, a specialist in emergency medicine. In his lecture, he shared modern approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of sepsis, based on real clinical cases from Australian practice. Special attention was paid to early recognition of symptoms, algorithms for actions in the first hours after detection, and interdisciplinary cooperation.

Lecture 2. Lara Wieland – “Motivational interviewing: how to communicate with patients”
The second lecture was given by Dr. Lara Wieland, an experienced general practitioner and medical trainer. She revealed the essence of motivational interviewing, a communication method that helps doctors establish effective contact with patients, support them in changing their behavior and adhering to treatment. Those present had the opportunity to see the technique in practical examples and ask questions about difficult cases in their own practice.

The lectures were held in English with professional translation, which ensured a full understanding of the material for all participants.
The event was an important step towards the integration of the Ukrainian medical community into the global professional context and left a vivid impression on all those present.11:00
