March 24 is the World TB Day. Every year in Ukraine, 30,000 new cases of TB are registered. Every sixth patient dies, although today the disease is curable. In Ukraine, about 25% of cases of TB patients are not detected.
In addition to the timely detection of tuberculosis and the proper treatment of patients, one more problem is the lack of awareness of tuberculosis among both health workers and the Ukrainian population.
Social stigmatization and discrimination experienced by patients and their immediate environment are a pressing issue not for one person or a specific community, but for society as a whole.
