Multidisciplinary Ukrainian-Turkish Master Class “Aesthetic and Metabolic Surgery. Innovative Surgical Technologies in Gynecology”

On October 20, 2017, an important event will take place in Odessa National Medical University – a multidisciplinary Ukrainian-Turkish master class “Aesthetic and Metabolic Surgery. Innovative Surgical Technologies in Gynecology”. It is held in preparation for signing of an agreement on international cooperation between Odessa National Medical University and the famous International Hospital Sysly-Kolan, which is located in Istanbul.

Recently, a delegation from our university, headed by the vice-rector for international work, Professor Marichereda V.G., attended educational and health institutions in Istanbul, including this high-tech hospital, and got an important experience that will help meet the world standards  in modernization of the University Clinics faster. This master class is a return visit in the context of our cooperation. Its goal is to train our doctors to perform modern surgical interventions in the field of aesthetic and metabolic surgery and noninvasive gynecology, as well as the exchange of experience in the field of innovative surgical techniques. The leading professors from Turkey will perform complex demonstration operations, namely, plastic operations on the nose, laparoscopic operations for reducing the stomach volume in obesity, and various complicated laparoscopic operations for gynecological pathologies. Well-known professors of our university namely professors Grubnik V.V., Tkachenko O.I., Gladchuk I.Z., Pukhlik S.M., M.D. Malinovsky will work together with the Turkish surgeons.

It is well known that recently plastic surgery has been gaining popularity and should be accessible to a wide range of patients. Operations for reducing the stomach volume and other bariatric surgery on patients with certain weight are the only effective means of treating obesity and related disorders, including diabetes mellitus, joint pathology, infertility and other metabolic disorders. Modern gynecology also needs improvement in laparoscopic operations, in particular in cancerous pathology, which has become increasingly common recently. It is well known that lately plastic operations together with the functional restoration of nasal breathing have been gaining popularity and should be accessible to a wide range of patients.

Of course, this event is useful not only for our doctors; it also improves the Ukrainian-Turkish relations in general. Consequently, the Consul General of Turkey, Mr. Jemil Ufuk Togrul will be at the opening of the master class. Also, the rector of Odessa National Medical University, academician V.M. Zaporozhan, and the general manager of the International Hospital Sisli-Kolan, Mrs. Neslikhan Kahraman will give welcome greetings. Demonstration operations and lectures will be held at the Center for Reconstructive and Rehabilitation Medicine in Tinistaya Street and at the Multidisciplinary Medical Center in Pasteur Street, which have all necessary medical equipment to perform such operations and conduct educational activities.
