Interrelations with Foreign Higher Educational Institutions and Research Centers

The international activity of ONMedU is focused on increasing the potential of the university as a prestigious educational institution in the European system of health education and protection. Its specialists and graduates are competitive in the European and global professional environment.

ONMedU cooperates with medical universities from different continents and countries, the total number of working agreements on cooperation and partnership is above 50 with 25 countries of the world. Negotiations about partnership and cooperation with medical, scientific and educational organizations from different countries are going on.

In 2020, agreements were concluded with the well-known pharmaceutical company “Ellie Lilly and Company”, USA, aiming conducting a joint clinical trial; with the well-known English -Swedish pharmaceutical company registered in the UK and named “Astra Zeneca” (AstraZeneca plc) for general clinical observations.

The Department of Biophysics, Informatics and Medical Equipment has signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Bielsko-Biała, Poland. A joint patent for an efficient Ukrainian model “System for pneumonia diagnostics” (№144617) was obtained. Authors: Godlevsky L.S. (professor, Dr. of medical sciences) and Martsenyuk V.P. (professor, doctor of Dr. Sci. in Physics and Mathematics).

Negotiations with die Klinik für Allgemein-, Viszeral- und Minimalinvasive Chirurgie, Berlin (Germany) and the Astana Medical University on future cooperation are under way.

A cooperation agreement with Tbilisi State Medical University is at the stage of signing.

There has been established a contact and cooperation with the European Society of Simulation Applied to Medicine (SESAM). With the active participation of the rector, academician V.M. Zaporozhan, a collaborative project on the certification training “BLS and Team Trauma Support” under the auspices of the World Health Organization, the Canadian International Surgical Association, the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada and McGill University (Montreal , Canada) was organized and set up.

There is an active cooperation with the British Medical Journal “Training Initiative to Support Clinical Solution”. In association with the British Medical Journal, the Ukrainian Portal was created which opens unlimited access for 3,000 Ukrainian specialists to its resources which contain more than 1,000 clinical cases, 1,000 online training modules and cover 80% of the most common pathologies which the specialists of primary and secondary care setting may be faced with.

ONMedU cooperates with the Ministries of Health of Ukraine, Poland and Germany within the framework of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine on mental health program and participates in the program “Intercultural Determinants of Well-being in Different Working Population in Europe” in cooperation with Nofers Institute of Labor Medicine (Lodz, Poland).

ONMedU participates in the cooperation of the Ukrainian Association of Doctors on noninvasive, endoscopic and laser technologies with the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery.

ONMedU became a member of the all-Ukrainian network for the recognition of foreign qualifications UaReNet.

Valery Gereg GUMF “Mykola Testemitsanu” Serhiy Shandru (Chisinau, Moldova), MD, DA, DESA, FRCA, Chairman of the Examination Committee of the European Union of Anesthesiologists (ESA) Andrew Varvinsky (London, UK), MD, MHA, PhD, Regional Director of Kaiser Permanente Alexander Rakul (Auckland, USA), MD, pulmonologist-resuscitator, assistant professor at Mount Sinai Hospital Eugene Pinelis (New York, USA), Professor, Attaché of University Clinics of Paris, Chumachenko Eugene Dmitrievich (Paris, France), Professor and Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Therapy, Soroca University Medical Center, Alexander Zlotnik (Beersheba, Israel).

Representatives of the university regularly participate in business meetings. Thus, on January 27, 2020, Vice-Rector for Scientific and Pedagogical (International) Work, Professor, Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine Tarabrin OO, postgraduate student Sukhonos RE, Assistant Professor Suslov OS took part (webinar format) in the meeting of the Council of the European Union of Anesthesiology Committee of the European Committee for Anesthesiology. The main topic of the meeting was the correspondence of the CEEA diploma on completion of the course to the confirmed European Diploma in Anesthesiology.

On March 13, 2020, Odessa National Medical University joined the webinar on COVID-19 treatment with the participation of Ukrainian and American doctors. The discussion was moderated by the Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, Professor Tarabrin OO. Professor of the Department of Pediatric Intensive Care of the Military Medical Academy of Dnipro Denis Surkov, anesthesiologist of The Brooklyn Hospital Center Yevhen Pinelis (New York), associate professor of Albert Einstein College of Medicine, internist of Montefiore Weiler Hospital Valentina Holoborodko (USA, New York), a graduate of ONMedU, the University of California and Harvard medical group administrator of the Kaiser Permanente hospital network Alexander Rakul (USA, Auckland) and others joined the video call.

In 2020, ONMedU organized 20 scientific events of different levels: a web conference with specialists from the United States to share experiences “Odessa vs COVID”, a scientific-practical conference with international participation “Modern theoretical and practical aspects of clinical medicine”, an international webinar on COVID-19 “Immunological phenomena in rheumatic diseases with COVID-19”, II International Symposium on Thrombosis and Hemostasis, International Online Conference “Treatment and Rehabilitation in the Practice of a Family Physician”, XX Anniversary Scientific and Practical Conference with International participation “Modern achievements of sports medicine, physical rehabilitation, physical education and valeology – 2020 “and others.

The rector of ONMedU Academician of NAMS of Ukraine V.M. Zaporozhan is an Honorary Doctor of Vienna University of Medicine (Vienna), Hanoi Medical University (Vietnam), University of Agra, A. Schweizer International Academy of Medicine (Poland), P.Stoyanov Medical University (Bulgaria), Ovidius University (Romania) and other universities.

  1. M. Zaporozhan is the President of the SO “Association of Obstetricians-Gynecologists of Ukraine”. The public Association “Obstetricians-Gynecologists Association of Ukraine” is a full member of the European Council and College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (EBCOG) and the World Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics. The Association represents the interests of obstetricians-gynecologists of Ukraine at the world level. Thanks to membership in the EBCOG, the Ukrainian doctors have their representatives in the Union of European Medical Specialists, in which EBCOG is the representation of all the obstetrician-gynecologists of the EU countries in the governing bodies of the European Community.

As the President of the Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Ukraine, the rector of ONMed U, academician V. M. Zaporozhan takes part in international educational projects: Ukrainian-Swiss Program “Mother and Child Health”, “Women’s Health of Ukraine” “USAID (United States Agency on International Development), Reproductive Health Project in Ukraine – Women’s Health and Family Planning Foundation USAID (United States Agency on International Development), project” Improving the control of alcohol use and smoking during pregnancy in Ukraine “USAID (United States Agency for International Development).
