International Cooperation of the University Departments

In 2020, the departments of the university on behalf of ONMedU actively continued to work on establishing relations with foreign institutions.

The Department of Radiation Diagnostics, Therapy and Oncology has an agreement with the Department of Radiation Diagnostics and Radiation Therapy of Chisinau Medical University about conducting research. The Department also worked under a cooperation agreement with the medical faculty of the University “OVIDIUS”, Constanta, Romania, 2018-2028.

The Department of Surgery № 1 was engaged in negotiations with the Klinik für Allgemein-, Viszeral- und Minimalinvasive Chirurgie, Berlin (Germany) about future cooperation.

The Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacognosy has an acting cooperation agreement with the University of Opole (Opole, Poland) from 2017 to 2021 and the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (Chisinau, Moldova) from 2012.

n 2020, the Department of Pediatrics № 1 concluded agreements with the well-known pharmaceutical company “Ellie Lilly and Company”, USA, aiming to conduct a joint clinical trial and with the well-known English-Swedish pharmaceutical company registered in the UK and named “Astra Zeneca” (AstraZeneca plc) for general clinical observations.

The Department of Biophysics, Informatics and Medical Equipment has signed a cooperation agreement with the University of Bielsko-Biała, Poland. A joint patent for an efficient Ukrainian model “System for pneumonia diagnostics” (№144617) was obtained. Authors: Godlevsky L.S. (professor, Dr. of medical sciences) and Martsenyuk V.P. (professor, doctor of Dr. Sci. in Physics and Mathematics).

ONMEDU received a grant “Multilevel Local, Nation- and Regionwide Education and Training in Climate Services, Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation” (“Multilevel education and training on climate services, adaptation to climate change and its mitigation at the local, national and regional levels”). 619285-EPP-1-2020-1-FI-EPPKA2-CBHE-JP. Erasmus +. Coordinator: University of Helsinki, Finland. ONMedU is one of the 12 project partners. Deadlines – 15.11.2020 – 14.11.2023.

Assistant of the Department of Family Medicine Said O.V. got an international Chevening Scholarship (sponsored by the British Government). At the moment she is studying at University College London (UCL) on the Master’s program in Nutrition and Eating Disorders (1 academic year).

University employees received 6 grants to participate in scientific conferences.

University staff were giving a variety of lectures. Head of the Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine, Doctor of Medicine Professor Tarabrin O.O., gave 20 lectures within the frames of educational events of international level, organized by the department. Assistant of the Department of Internal Medicine № 3 Zhuravlyov I.V. conducted 4 lectures on the international educational and practical online platform “Dental Expert”. Professor of the Department of Biophysics, Informatics and Medical Equipment Godlevsky L.S. gave a lecture for students of the medical faculty of Erdogan Yorgat Bozok University  (Turkey). On June 1, 2020 Professor of General Practice, Doctor of Medicine Dragomiretska N.V. gave 2 lectures in the online broadcast platform of the XXII National School of Gastroenterologists, Hepatologists of Ukraine with international participation, Kyiv.

ONMedU continues inviting leading specialists of international level to exchange experiences, give lectures and establish regular cooperation. Prof. Mogens Bügge (Sweden) takes an active part in the organizational actions on establishing the International Club of Honorary Doctors and Visiting Professors of ONMedU.

In the conditions of quarantine ONMed actively used technical possibilities of carrying out scientific and practical events. The Department of Anesthesiology, Intensive Care and Emergency Medicine organized 18 thematic and educational webinars. 32 employees attended webinars including devoted to the treatment of COVID-19, to improve their skills.

During 2020, 22 employees underwent internships, including online, in foreign institutions. Among the institutions where the internships took place are: University of Bielsko-Biala, Poland, Scientific direction of Inter Intel DOO, Slovenia, Malopolska Szkola Administracji Publicznej Uniwersytet Ekonomiczny w Krakowie, Poland, University College London (UCL), EdEra and House of Europe, Czech Republic and others.

More than 130 employees took part and presented their articles at scientific forums organized by foreign institutions. Poster report of the staff of the Department of Internal Medicine and Therapy – V. Bondar, K. Chernyshova, V. Klochko, I. Maznichenko, D. Oliynyk and others received the American award as the best report from Ukraine at the American Heart Association, Scientific sessions, USA (Digital version) on November 13-17, 2020.

Scientific works of ONMedU students are presented at conferences abroad and international forums in Ukraine. Among them are the events of high international level, i.e. student Prybolovets KO (11th group, 4th year) and Latypov KA (22nd group, 5th year) presented two papers at the conference under the auspices of IBRO (International Brain Research Organization) – “NEURONUS 2020”, which took place remotely on December 8-11, 2020 and was organized by the Student Society of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow (Poland).

Teams of university departments are permanently involved in international scientific clinical research. 9 clinical trials including association with foreign partners were completed, 5 trials started, 8 clinical tests are under investigation in 2020.

Associate Professor of Physiology, Ph.D. Rusakova M.Yu. participated in the international EU project INNOVA4NB-DLV-823854 Innovation in Tuberculosis (Innovations in the fight against tuberculosis), Umeå University, Sweden, 2018-2020.

As an expert in the field of pediatrics and a member of the public non-governmental charitable organization “Eleos”, associate Professor of Pediatrics № 1, Ph.D. Biryukov V.S. has been taking part in 2-year program (2020 – 2021) “Creation and lobbying of new palliative care and care services for seriously ill patients in Odessa” within the project ” Eleos ” with the support of the European Union (Treaty № EINDR 2017 / 391-821-4 of 25.02.2020). Recipient of the grant: charitable non-governmental organization NGO “Eleos”.

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry continues to work under the agreement on scientific and technical cooperation with the Institute of Applied Physics of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Republic of Moldova. The search for new synthetic fluorine-containing pharmaceuticals with caries-protective and antibacterial action continues; synthesized and characterized new ammonium hexafluorosilicates with different types of biologically active cations, which have a pronounced caries-prophylactic activity. In 2020 a joint article was published in the international journal “J. Fluorine Chem.» under this agreement, which is indexed in the database« Scopus »; 2012 – validity is not limited.
